The Cartier Santos de Cartier WSSA0082 is the small model of Cartier’s best-known square watch, a design that traces back to 1904, when Louis Cartier created a wristwatch for the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. It pairs that heritage with compact proportions and a bright silver dial.

The stainless steel case measures 27 mm by 34.5 mm and is only 7.08 mm thick, with a square bezel and visible screws. The silver sunray dial carries black Roman numerals, a railway minute track and blue steel sword-shaped hands. A faceted synthetic spinel sits in the seven-sided crown, and a sapphire crystal protects the dial. The watch has a steel bracelet, and Cartier specifies a second dark blue calfskin strap with a steel pin buckle.

Inside is a quartz movement, which keeps the watch slim, light and simple to live with. Water resistance is 3 bar, about 30 metres, so it suits daily wear rather than swimming. It is a good choice for anyone who wants a refined, understated steel watch in a smaller size.
